Meet Nero Wolfe (1936) begins at the West Hills Golf Club in Westchester, where E.J. Kimball and his son Manuel join Professor Barstow and his future son-in-law Claude Roberts for a round of golf. During the game, Barstow suddenly falls ill and dies, seemingly from a heart attack. Meanwhile, in New York, a young woman named Marie Maringola visits the renowned detective Nero Wolfe, seeking his help to find her missing brother Carlo. Wolfe takes the case and sends his assistant Archie Goodwin to investigate. Archie discovers evidence linking Carlo's disappearance to Barstow's death, leading Wolfe to theorize that Barstow was murdered using a specially modified golf club that fired a poisoned dart. As Wolfe delves deeper, he uncovers a complex web of deceit and danger, involving a deadly snake venom and multiple suspects. The investigation takes a dramatic turn when E.J. Kimball becomes the target, and Wolfe must use all his ingenuity to protect his client and solve the case.
