Battlestar Galactica (TV Miniseries) (2003) is set in a remote galaxy where The Twelve Colonies of Man have enjoyed four decades of peace with the Cylons, a mechanical empire initially created as worker drones but later rebelled and evolved into humanoid forms. These advanced Cylons, now biological beings, aim to eradicate true humans. They enlist a human scientist, Gaius, to assist one of their infiltrators, known as #6, in breaching the Colonies' defense systems. Gaius, captivated by #6's allure, unwittingly facilitates a devastating nuclear attack that annihilates the Colonies and their protective fleet. The sole survivor is the aging battlestar Galactica, which must now guide 50,000 survivors in search of a new homeworld. Their first mission is to reach a weapons deployment base within a spatial storm, but they find themselves trapped when two Cylon base stars launch an assault.
