Goodbye Children (1987) unfolds during the harsh winter of 1943, focusing on Julien Quentin, a young boy from Paris who, despite his tough exterior, is a sensitive soul dealing with bed-wetting issues. Julien reluctantly returns to his boarding school after the Christmas holidays, finding the routine monotonous. His world takes an unexpected turn when Père Jean, the headmaster, welcomes three new students. Among them is Jean Bonnet, a fellow student Julien's age. Initially, Julien is dismissive of Bonnet, viewing him as an aloof intellectual who is already a target of ridicule from their classmates.
