The Beiderbecke Affair (TV Miniseries) (1985) introduces us to Geordie Trevor Chaplin, a woodwork teacher with a passion for jazz, and Jill Swinburne, an English teacher dedicated to environmental causes. Trevor's quest to purchase jazz records entangles him with a captivating platinum blonde, a dubious detective sergeant, and an eccentric duo managing a youth football team. Big Al and Little Norm step in to assist Trevor and Jill with their school supply issues. Meanwhile, Jill decides to run for a local council seat, uncovering a web of "Black Economies," council corruption, and an array of peculiar characters, all set against the melodious backdrop of Bix Beiderbecke's jazz.
