Schindler's List (1993) follows the journey of Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist in Poland who initially capitalizes on the Nazi regime's ascent to power. He establishes a factory producing enamelware, leveraging charm and bribes to secure military contracts, and enlists the expertise of accountant Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) to manage the enterprise. Schindler's workforce primarily consists of Jews confined to Krakow's ghetto, providing him with a reliable, unpaid labor force. For Stern and his fellow Jewish employees, this job offers a lifeline amidst the horrors of war. However, in 1942, the situation escalates as all Jews in Krakow are relocated to the Plaszow Forced Labor Camp, under the brutal command of Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes), a volatile and cruel officer. Schindler negotiates to retain his Jewish workers, but as he witnesses their suffering, his moral compass shifts. Recognizing that his factory is their only shield against extermination, Schindler begins to advocate for more workers and bribes Nazi officials to keep them off the deportation lists. By the war's end, Schindler has exhausted his wealth but has successfully saved 1,100 lives from certain death.
