Dancing Co-Ed (1939) follows the story of a film producer, Freddy Tobius, who faces an unexpected challenge when his wife reveals her pregnancy just as they are about to start filming a new production. In a desperate search for a replacement, Tobius organizes a nationwide competition among college girls, but the contest is a sham. The producer secretly selects Patty Marlow, a talented young dancer, and sends her to a small college in the Midwest. The only person who begins to suspect the deception is Pug, a college reporter.
