The House With Laughing Windows (1976) follows Stefano, a young art restorer, who is tasked with preserving a fresco depicting the torment of St. Sebastian. The mural was the final creation of the troubled artist Legnani, known for his morbid depictions of people on the brink of death or in extreme agony. As Stefano delves into his work in a small village near Ferrara, Italy, he becomes increasingly unsettled by the eerie atmosphere and the disturbing history surrounding Legnani's art. The line between reality and horror blurs, plunging Stefano into a terrifying nightmare.
