Any Number Can Play (1949)

Any Number Can Play (1949) follows the story of Charlie King, portrayed by Clark Gable, who manages a casino with a unique approach. In an industry notorious for its dishonesty, Charlie stands out by ensuring his casino operates fairly and respectfully towards its patrons. However, Charlie's wife, Lon (Alexis Smith), views gambling as a morally corrupt enterprise, regardless of Charlie's integrity. Their son, Paul (Darryl Hickman), shares his mother's disapproval. When Paul finds himself in legal trouble, Charlie intervenes, but Paul chooses to stay with his mother rather than accompany his father. Charlie extends an invitation to Paul to visit the casino, and Lon agrees that Paul should understand the nature of his father's work.
