Hidden River (1948) follows the journey of Rosaura Salazar, a dedicated young educator summoned by the Mexican President to bring education to the impoverished residents of the isolated town of Rio Escondido. Despite her own health challenges, including a heart condition, Salazar embarks on this mission. Upon arrival, she encounters Regino Sandoval, a malevolent landowner who has seized control of the town, enforcing his authority and spreading despair. Salazar must confront Sandoval and his oppressive regime to fulfill her mission and bring hope to the downtrodden community.
