Intoxicating (2003) centers around Dorian Shanley, a talented heart surgeon grappling with severe substance abuse issues, including alcohol and drugs. Dorian engages in a dangerous exchange, trading stolen pharmaceuticals for cocaine, facilitated by his closest friend and enabler, Teddy. As Dorian's personal and professional life spirals out of control, he struggles to cope with the loss of his father, William Shanley, who succumbed to a type of Alzheimer's disease prevalent among boxers. Adding to his turmoil, Dorian finds himself romantically entangled with Anna, the best friend of his girlfriend from college.
