The Philadelphia Story (1940) follows the life of Tracy Lord, a privileged socialite from Philadelphia's elite Main Line. After her divorce from C.K. Dexter Haven, Tracy is set to marry George Kittredge, a wealthy businessman. However, her wedding plans are disrupted when she is coerced by publisher Sidney Kidd to allow tabloid reporter Macaulay "Mike" Connor and photographer Elizabeth "Liz" Imbrie to cover her wedding in exchange for keeping her father Seth's scandalous behavior under wraps. As the wedding approaches, Tracy grapples with her feelings for Mike, her ex-husband Dexter, and her fiancé George.
