The Professional (2003) follows the story of Teja, a former university professor and writer who was once a prominent figure in Belgrade's intellectual circles and a vocal critic of the Milosevic regime. Now, Teja manages a large publishing house. One day, an unexpected visitor, Luka, a former agent of the Serbian Security Service turned taxi driver, arrives at his office with a large suitcase. This encounter sets off a series of astonishing events that reveal the intertwined lives of these two men. Luka's mission for the past decade has been to shadow Teja, documenting his actions and even his most private moments. As their stories unfold, the film chronicles a decade of their lives, filled with a mix of absurd situations, poignant moments, dark humor, and tragic events, all set against the backdrop of the tumultuous end of the 20th century in Serbia.
