Barry (1949) is a heartwarming tale set against the backdrop of the Alps, where two young lovers, Sylvain and Angelina, are torn apart by the whims of fate and war. Sylvain, in a moment of impulsiveness, enlists in Napoléon Ier's army and embarks on a journey through all the Napoleonic campaigns, only to return after the emperor's downfall. Meanwhile, Angelina, believing Sylvain to be lost to her forever, marries Jean-Marie, a man she does not love, and together they have a child before moving to America. Thirteen years later, tragedy strikes as Angelina and her family are caught in an avalanche during their return to the Alps. Rescued by Barry, a loyal and brave rescue dog, and Father Théotime, a monk from St Bernard's Hospice who once harbored feelings for Angelina, the story takes a dramatic turn. Angelina is reunited with Sylvain, but their joy is short-lived as their daughter Gisèle remains missing. Despite his advanced age and fatigue, Théotime, accompanied by Barry, braves the treacherous snowstorm once more to save Gisèle, highlighting the enduring power of love and the indomitable spirit of those who seek to protect it.
