From Here to Eternity (1953) follows the story of Private Prewitt (Montgomery Clift), who is reassigned to a military base in Hawaii. Captain Holmes (Philip Ober), aware of Prewitt's boxing prowess, attempts to persuade him to join the boxing team, but Prewitt declines, stating he has left that part of his life behind. This refusal, however, makes him a marked man. His friend, Maggio (Frank Sinatra), tries to support him, but Maggio has his own set of challenges to navigate. Concurrently, Sergeant Milton Warden (Burt Lancaster) and the wife of Captain Holmes (Deborah Kerr), who is subjected to mistreatment by her husband, discover a shared attraction, leading to a clandestine affair.
