Gachi Boy: Wrestling With a Memory (2008) follows the life of Igarashi, a young man who appears to have everything going for him—youth, charm, intelligence, and a promising career as a lawyer. Having already passed the bar exam with a year of university left, his future seems bright. However, a severe accident a year prior has left him with a significant challenge: he has no short-term memory. Igarashi relies on meticulously detailed notes and photographs to navigate his daily life, as he cannot retain new information. With his legal aspirations seemingly out of reach, Igarashi finds an unexpected path forward—he decides to become a masked wrestler.
