The Great Escape (1963) follows a group of Allied prisoners of war, meticulously selected by the German high command for their exceptional escape attempts, who are confined in a seemingly inescapable POW camp. Under the leadership of Roger "Big X" Bartlett (Richard Attenborough), the prisoners embark on a clandestine operation to dig a series of tunnels. Bartlett delegates tasks based on each prisoner's unique skills, and for over a year, a multitude of inmates, many of whom will not be part of the final escape, toil towards a daring breakout. The goal is not only to escape but also to cause a significant disruption to the German army's operations.
