Mondo Trasho (1969) kicks off with a shocking opening scene where chickens meet a grim fate on a chopping block. The narrative then shifts to the glamorous Mary Vivian Pearce, a platinum blonde bombshell who starts her day by commuting on a bus and engrossed in Kenneth Anger's "Hollywood Babylon." Her day takes a peculiar turn when she is enticed by a "shrimper" (a foot fetishist). Later, she is struck by a vehicle driven by Divine, a hefty blonde who places her in the car and drives erratically through Baltimore, encountering a series of bizarre events, including repeated visits from the Mother Mary, during which Divine exclaims, "Oh Mary ... teach me to be Divine." Eventually, Divine takes the unconscious bombshell to Dr. Coathanger (David Lochary), who performs a gruesome surgery, amputating her feet and replacing them with bird-like monstrous appendages that allow her to tap dance her way around Baltimore.
