Out Yonder (1919)

Out Yonder (1919) follows the tale of Flotsam, the offspring of lighthouse keeper Amos Bart. Flotsam's expertise in navigating the treacherous New England reefs comes in handy when she rescues Mrs. Elmer, who is on a yacht vacation with her son Edward and their companions. As Flotsam and Edward spend more time together, they develop romantic feelings for each other. However, when Edward proposes, complications arise. Amos' assistant, the rough Joey Clark, who has his own designs on Flotsam, reveals a dark secret: Amos had killed Edward's father years ago. Amos, believing he committed the act under the influence of alcohol, confesses that Flotsam is not his biological daughter but was entrusted to his wife by a dying woman. After Amos tells Flotsam to leave with the Elmers, Edward's former jealous lover informs Flotsam about the murder. Flotsam returns, followed by the yacht, and she and Edward witness Clark taunting Amos by confessing to the murder of Edward's father.
