The Ideal Place (2018) follows the journey of Joseph Ferdinand Cheval (Jacques Gamblin), a humble postman navigating the picturesque landscapes of Drôme in the late 19th century. His solitary existence takes a turn when he encounters the love of his life, Philomena (Laetitia Casta). Their union brings forth a daughter, Alice, whom Cheval adores deeply. Inspired by his love for his child, Cheval embarks on an ambitious project: constructing a magnificent palace with his own hands. Despite the numerous challenges life throws at him, this ordinary man remains steadfast in his mission, dedicating 33 years to creating an extraordinary masterpiece known as "The Ideal Palace.
