Black Cat, White Cat (1998) follows the story of Matko, a petty con artist residing along the Danube with his 17-year-old son, Zare. After a botched business venture, Matko finds himself indebted to the influential gangster, Dadan. In a bid to settle his debts, Dadan proposes a deal: Zare must marry Dadan's sister, Afrodita. However, neither Zare nor Afrodita are enthusiastic about this arranged union. Zare is deeply in love with Ida, while Afrodita remains hopeful for a romantic encounter with her dream man.
