Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York (1975) follows the journey of Sheila Levine, a Jewish-American woman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who moves to the Big Apple with her parents. She shares an apartment with a vibrant roommate who enjoys the nightlife. One evening, Sheila is convinced to visit a nightclub where she encounters Dr. Sam Stoneman, who is seeking a brief encounter. Sheila finds herself deeply drawn to Sam, who appears more interested in her outgoing roommate. Sheila temporarily returns to Harrisburg but soon comes back to New York determined to win Sam's affection. However, she learns that Sam has been tricked into an engagement with her former roommate. Despite this setback, Sheila excels in her role as an "office-singer/typist" for a record label, showcasing her resilience and determination.
