Leneged Einayim Ma'araviyot (Under Western Eyes) (1996) follows the bittersweet journey of Gary Razomov, a young architect residing in Berlin who has severed ties with his past. The sudden news of his father's demise compels him to return to Israel, only to discover a web of deceit. His father, a former scientist, is not deceased but has escaped from prison, where he was incarcerated for espionage on behalf of the USSR. Gary crosses paths with a young woman named Tom, and together they embark on a quest to find his father. Throughout their adventure, Gary is compelled to face the traumatic events of his past.
