The Last Kingdom (TV Series) (2015) is a historical drama that spans from 872 to the present day, encompassing four seasons. The narrative unfolds in a tumultuous era where the invading Danes have conquered most of the separate kingdoms that would eventually form England, leaving the resilient kingdom of Wessex under the rule of King Alfred. The story revolves around Uhtred, a protagonist with a complex heritage. Born to a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes and raised among them, creating a perpetual struggle between his birthright and his upbringing. Uhtred's journey is fraught with the challenge of choosing between his Saxon roots and his Danish upbringing, as he navigates the dangerous political landscape to reclaim his ancestral lands and contribute to the formation of a new nation. The fifth season (5S) is set to release in 2021 on Netflix.
