Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014) unfolds in the picturesque fishing village of Malpe, nestled along the Arabian Coast, just 6 kilometers west of the sacred town of Udupi. The village's beaches are meticulously cleansed daily by the sea, leaving no trace behind. However, the waves cannot erase everything. The narrative is set during the festive season of Sri Krishna Janmaashtami, when Udupi and its environs are adorned in celebration of Lord Krishna's birth. The streets are filled with men and children dressed as mythological figures, and groups of dancers, adorned as tigers, move to the rhythm of drums. Yet, beneath the festive facade, a storm of violence is brewing in Malpe, poised to forever alter the lives of those caught in its path.
