The Calling (2009)

The Calling (2009) follows Joanna, a young woman on the brink of graduating from university, who finds herself at a crossroads. She has always harbored a deep-seated desire to become a nun and is determined to join a secluded order of Benedictines. Her decision is met with disbelief from her best friend, heartbreak from her boyfriend, and skepticism from her mother, who views it as a passing phase. The sole support she receives comes from Consuela, the family's devout housekeeper. Upon arriving at the convent, Joanna encounters a diverse group of sisters, including a politically active novice, Sister Ignatious, and a range of eccentric individuals, such as a mentally unstable Mother Superior and an alcoholic football enthusiast managing the vineyard. Initially, Joanna questions her decision, but as she delves deeper into the community's spiritual bonds and shared love, she begins to find her own spiritual fulfillment.
