Midsummer (2003) follows Christian, a 19-year-old student, and his younger sister Sofie as they prepare to celebrate the end of their school year. The group of friends attends a party, but the festivities are abruptly halted when Sofie tragically takes her own life in an upstairs bathroom. Despite completing their exams and graduating, the unexplained suicide deeply affects everyone, particularly Christian, who believes Sofie was trying to convey a message before her death. To honor their tradition, the friends embark on a final trip to Sweden to celebrate midsummer. The usual rituals feel hollow without Sofie, but the group tries to enjoy themselves. Christian's long-held feelings for Trine seem to be reciprocated, offering a glimmer of hope. However, Christian's peace is shattered when he wakes up feeling Sofie's presence in the room. As the trip unfolds, the group encounters a sinister force that reveals the truth behind Sofie's death, turning their midsummer celebration into a harrowing experience that will forever change their lives.
