Kara Murat: The Ruler of the Seas (1977) follows the thrilling tale of Pasha Yunus, who, after completing a tax collection mission for the Ottoman ruler Fatih Sultan Mehmet (1432-1481), faces a perilous journey home. His ship is ambushed and seized by the notorious Black Pirate and his crew, resulting in Yunus's capture and the loss of the valuable treasure he was transporting. The pirates, under the protection of Prince Nikolas of Kos, systematically plunder Turkish vessels and coastal settlements. In response, Fatih Sultan Mehmet assigns the intrepid sea captain, Kara Murat, to rescue Yunus and recover the stolen tax revenues. During his mission, Kara Murat encounters Maria, a captivating female pirate, who complicates his resolve with her charm and apparent affection for him. Torn between his duty and his growing feelings, Kara Murat contemplates abandoning his mission and aligning with the pirates to overthrow Fatih Sultan. Vargas, a rugged and bearded pirate deeply in love with Maria, is enraged by Kara Murat's presence and challenges him to a duel.
