Mars (2004) is set in a secluded Russian town named Marks, where the inhabitants are employed at a toy factory and compensated with toys instead of currency. The town is isolated, with infrequent news from the outside world. One day, a former boxer named Boris awakens on a train, spotting the letters "MAR_S" on a sign. As he ventures into the town, he encounters various individuals, including Grigoriy, a young dreamer who is deeply in love with Greta, the local librarian. Greta yearns to escape the town's confines. With each new encounter, Boris's past becomes increasingly difficult to evade.
