The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) follows Luke, a daredevil motorcycle stunt rider who journeys with a traveling carnival. During a stop in Schenectady, New York, he attempts to rekindle a relationship with his former flame, Romina, and discovers they have a son, Jason. Luke leaves his nomadic lifestyle to support his new family, securing a job as a mechanic. His boss, Robin, sees Luke's potential and invites him to participate in a series of daring bank heists, drawing the attention of eager rookie cop Avery Cross. Avery must contend with a corrupt police department led by the formidable Detective Deluca while also managing his own family, including his wife Jennifer and their newborn son, AJ. The clash between Avery and Luke sets off a chain of events that will impact the lives of their sons, Jason and AJ, in profound ways.
