Love at the Top (1974) is a cynical tragicomedy that delves into the varied expressions of love during the era of the sexual revolution. The story centers around Nicholas Mallet, an unassuming and introverted bank employee who, in a bold move, invites a stranger named Marie-Paul to a café in Paris and subsequently spends the night with her. When Nicholas shares this unexpected encounter with his friend Claude, a disenchanted and disabled writer, Claude sees an opportunity to orchestrate and manipulate Nicholas' life. Claude's first move is to introduce Nicholas to Roberte, the discontented and bored wife of a philosophy professor.
