Chronicle of an Escape (2006) is set in Buenos Aires during the tumultuous year of 1977. The narrative follows Claudio Tamburrini, a goalkeeper for a lower-division soccer team, who is abducted by a special operations group under the Argentine military regime. He is taken to a secret detention facility known as Sere Mansion, a grim and imposing structure located in the suburban area of Moron. Within this hellish environment, characterized by chaotic rules, relentless interrogations, brutal beatings, and constant betrayals, Claudio encounters Guillermo and other young prisoners who struggle to endure while awaiting their uncertain fate. After enduring four months of captivity, with execution seemingly inevitable, Claudio, Guillermo, and two other inmates, 'El Vasco' and 'El Gallego,' make a daring escape by jumping out of a window during a violent thunderstorm. Their journey to freedom and the challenges they face thereafter form the core of this gripping tale.
