Thin Ice (1937) follows the story of Lili, a talented skating instructor employed at a luxurious hotel nestled in the Alps. The hotel is set to host an international conference, ostensibly led by Prince Rudolph. However, the Prince's true intention is to foment discord between two rival nations. Pretending to be unwell, the Prince retreats to a cozy inn to indulge in private skiing and delay the conference. One day, he encounters Lili on the slopes, and the two form an instant connection. Unaware of her new acquaintance's royal identity, Lili enjoys the company of "Rudy." Later that evening, Lili is spotted exiting the Prince's car after he kindly offers her a ride home. Rumors spread, and Lili is presumed to be romantically linked to the Prince. This speculation boosts her popularity and secures her a leading role in an ice skating show. When Lili learns of the rumors, she is mortified, while the Prince finds the situation amusing and continues to play along with the charade.
