The Colony (2013) is set in a future where the Earth is engulfed by a new Ice Age, a consequence of global warming. Scattered pockets of humanity endure in small, isolated colonies. At Colony 7, individuals who contract even minor illnesses like colds are exiled due to fears of contagion, with some advocating for their immediate execution. When a distress signal is received from Colony 5, leader Briggs seeks volunteers for a rescue mission. Joined by Sam and the young Graydon, they journey across the frozen wasteland to Colony 5, only to find it deserted except for one terrified survivor. They soon encounter a group of cannibalistic savages who have massacred the colony's inhabitants. Fleeing the cannibals, Sam is the sole survivor to return to Colony 7. Upon his return, he discovers that Mason has seized control and plans to implement a stricter regime, including the execution of the infected. Sam struggles to convince the stubborn Mason that the colony faces an imminent threat from hordes of deranged cannibals.
