Revenge of the Conquered (1961) follows the tale of Drakut, a gypsy warrior who, upon returning from distant battles, saves a woman from an ambush, who he believes to be Melena, a servant to Princess Irina. Meanwhile, tensions escalate between Drakut's gypsy tribe and the neighboring kingdom, ruled by the kind-hearted King Nicholas. However, the cunning and power-hungry Grand Duke Atanas manipulates Nicholas and orchestrates a plot to have Drakut's mother, the gypsy queen, executed for witchcraft. Drakut, believing Irina to be Melena, wrongly accuses her of involvement in his mother's fate. Atanas' schemes further unfold as he orchestrates Nicholas' murder, framing Drakut for the crime. Eventually, Drakut uncovers the truth about the mistaken identity and rescues the real Princess Irina from a forced marriage to Atanas. In gratitude, Irina elevates Drakut to the status of a prince, allowing them to marry.
