Hitoya no toge (TV Miniseries) (2017) follows Ryota Takeshima, a dedicated prison officer at Kitakanto Prison who has inherited his father's legacy. Ryota has been exposed to the grim reality of corrupt prison officers who turn a blind eye to bullying and gambling within the prison walls. The arrival of Soichi Nakui, the newly appointed prison chief, brings a glimmer of hope. Soichi issues a directive to Ryota, instructing him to root out the corruption that has plagued the prison, aiming to restore order and integrity.
