The Dark Knight Rises (2012) is set eight years after the events that transpired in the previous installment. Gotham City faces a new threat with the arrival of the formidable terrorist leader Bane. Bane's presence pushes the city and its law enforcement to their breaking points, compelling the once-retired hero, Batman, to emerge from the shadows. Batman's return is driven by the need to protect Gotham from Bane's destructive plans, especially after taking the blame for Harvey Dent's crimes.
