Sabaya (2021) delves into the harrowing aftermath of the 2014 Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Daesh) assault on the Yazidis' ancestral homeland, one of Iraq's oldest ethnic and religious minorities. The documentary highlights the horrific practice of abducting thousands of women and girls, who were subsequently used as sex slaves (sabaya) by the jihadists. Five years post-attack, director Hogir Hirori accompanies a dedicated group of volunteers from the Yazidi Home Center as they embark on a perilous mission to rescue the women and children still held captive by Daesh in the Al-Hol camp.
