The Broken Mask (1928) follows the journey of Pertio, an Argentine dancer burdened by a severely scarred face that has hindered his professional aspirations. Encouraged by Caricia, a fellow Argentine dancer who has achieved stardom, Pertio undergoes a transformative plastic surgery. The procedure is a success, and the two dancers join forces both in their careers and in a personal relationship. However, the surgeon who performed the operation becomes infatuated with Caricia, leading to a dark turn of events. Driven by his obsession, the surgeon performs another procedure on Pertio, causing his scars to resurface and complicating the lives of all involved.
