Garfield and Friends (TV Series) (1988) is an animated television series that aired from 1988 to 1994, spanning seven seasons and 121 episodes. The show is based on the beloved comic strip Garfield by Jim Davis and was produced by Film Roman. It originally aired on CBS Saturday mornings and later reran on Nickelodeon from 1997 to 2000. The series is notable for its longevity, making it one of the longest-running Saturday morning cartoons in history. Each episode featured segments from both Garfield and U.S. Acres, another comic strip by Davis, which was retitled Orson's Farm for international broadcasts. The show included two Garfield segments per episode, two quick shorts based on Sunday comic strips, and a U.S. Acres segment. A total of 242 Garfield segments and 121 U.S. Acres segments were produced. The series was initially broadcast in a half-hour format but switched to an hour-length format in its second season, showing two episodes each week. In its final season, the second half-hour featured either a rerun from a previous season or one of Garfield's TV specials. All episodes have been released in the U.S. on five DVD sets by Fox Home Entertainment.
