Fanny and Elvis (1999) follows the story of Kate, a writer from Yorkshire, who faces a dual crisis when she learns about her ticking biological clock and her husband's sudden departure. To navigate the financial strain, she takes in Dave, a car dealer who has been left homeless by her husband's actions. As they navigate their new living situation, Kate and Dave must also address the pressing issue of her desire to have a baby. Despite their growing attraction, they struggle to agree on even the most basic details, such as potential baby names, with Dave favoring Elvis and Kate finding it absurd, while she suggests Fanny, which Dave deems silly.
