The boss is more or less of a grouch, and very much objects when he detects his pretty stenographer flirting with his young clerks. He comes to the conclusion that he will engage a woman of maturer years. He advertises for such a one and he has many applicants. Finally, he selects a scrawny old maid, to whom he gives the job. The next morning, she is ready for service, and while he is dictating to her, she looks sweetly into his face, removes stray ravelings from his coat and occasionally gives him a flirtatious tap and beams lovingly into his face. He is distressed and irritated, but she still goes on as cheerfully as before. The boys enjoy his discomfiture and have hard work suppressing their laughter. The next day she brings a box of candies which she eats all the while he is dictating. When he shows his displeasure, she very coyly tries to place a candy in his mouth.
