Marianne (1929) unfolds during the tumultuous period of World War I, where a young French woman finds herself torn between two suitors. She is initially betrothed to a French soldier who is bravely serving at the front lines. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she falls for an American soldier. The French soldier returns home, but his injuries leave him blind, causing the French woman to reevaluate her feelings. Ultimately, she decides to follow her heart and joins the American soldier in New York, specifically on "Second Forty Street."
