A small village is populated only by old people and children. All the able-bodie have gone into the towns or to seek temporary work in Germany. Their children have taken it upon themselves to keep the farms and sell-holdings going. Their grandfathers and grandmothers are very often more of hindrance than a help to these little people. The film tells us about one such family in which a dramatic situation develops when Grandpa Marko receives a letter from his son telling him that he is going to divorce his wife and will not be returning home. How is he to tell his grandchildren, with whom he lives, this terrible truth? Old Marko decides to hide the truth from them, convinced that hopes and dreams help people to get through life.
