Navigating any major city during a public holiday can be a tiresome experience. Shops and restaurants close, public transport grinds to a standstill and even taxi drivers seem reluctant to play their trade. For poor Chen Mo, featured by Chang Chen (Three Times, Breath), these are the least of his problems. On Mother’s Day he makes a date for dinner with his wife, hoping to rekindle their estranged relationship. While buying a cake on his way home, a car unexpectedly double parks next to his car. What should have been a two minute detour unravels into an all-night chain of seemingly unconnected, increasingly bizarre events that threaten to ruin not only his dinner plans, but his marriage and possibly even his life.
