In 1939 in the State of Ceará, Brazil, beautiful Donna (Natasha Henstridge), the wife of an American oil executive in Brazil named Frank (Andrew McCarthy), who is looking for oil, soon falls in love with a rude but charming local fisherman, Nô (Eduardo Moscovis). The forbidden romance may destroy her marriage and upset the morals of the small village where they live.
