They Won't Forget (1937) unfolds in a small southern town, where a shocking event occurs when Mary Clay, a young teenager, is brutally murdered on Confederate Decoration Day. Seeking to capitalize on the tragedy, Andrew Griffin, a local lawyer with political aspirations, views the crime as an opportunity to boost his career. He sets his sights on Robert Hale, a northerner who had been Mary's instructor at the business school where the murder took place. Despite the lack of concrete evidence against Hale, Griffin collaborates with a relentless journalist to stir up a media storm, fueled by prejudice and hatred, aimed at the teacher.
