The Twilight Zone: Escape Clause (TV) (1959) follows Walter Bedeker, a man plagued by imaginary ailments, who is repeatedly visited by his doctor but finds no physical issues. The doctor attributes Walter's symptoms to psychosomatic causes, but Walter is unconvinced. One evening, a mysterious figure named Mr. Cadwallader appears in Walter's room with an unusual offer: immortality in exchange for his soul, with an escape clause allowing Walter to end his life if he grows weary of living. Intrigued, Walter agrees. Over time, he experiences numerous accidents and collects 14 insurance claims, but he grows bored with his endless existence. His search for excitement leads to an unforeseen and dramatic conclusion.
