When their 32-year-old brother Nino announces his engagement to his hip 25-year-old girlfriend Bo, his three older sisters, Wanda, Sonja and Michelle, throw a fit. For starters, they all thought Nino was gay; more importantly, if he gets married he inherits the Portuguese Hotel Paraiso. The sisters all have a common dream of moving to Portugal: Wanda, a little-known artist, wants to open a gallery; magazine writer Sonja wants to move there with her husband; and Michelle, the eldest, wants to escape her multiple roles as busy wife, mother, and head of a foundation for war orphans--Michelle now just wants to live in the family's coastal summer home. With their dreams on the line, the sisters realize that they have to act. They actively plot to sabotage the engagement, setting aside friendship and family as they rush into their individual schemes. These plans converge, however, when Bo invites them to Portugal to help her plan the wedding.
