Wings in the Dark (1935) follows the story of Ken Gordon, an innovative aeronautical engineer, and his loyal mechanic Mac, who are dedicated to creating technology that allows pilots to navigate safely through harsh weather conditions without visual cues. Their work is jeopardized when Nick Williams, a reckless journalist, publishes an untimely article about Gordon's ambitious long-distance flight plans. This premature exposure leads to the loss of funding but also introduces Gordon to the talented aviator Sheila Mason. After Gordon suffers a severe workshop accident that leaves him blind, Sheila takes on perilous stunt flying jobs to covertly finance Gordon's ongoing research. When Sheila embarks on a hazardous non-stop flight from Moscow to New York and faces the risk of crashing into a fog-shrouded Roosevelt Field, only one individual has the expertise to rescue her.
