Drum Beat (1954) follows the journey of a seasoned Indian fighter, MacKay, who is tasked by President Grant to engage in diplomatic negotiations with the Modoc tribe, residing in the borderlands of northern California and southern Oregon. Along the way, MacKay is entrusted with the responsibility of safely escorting Nancy Meek to her relatives' residence. However, the mission takes a perilous turn when Modoc renegade Captain Jack initiates a series of ambushes and violent acts. This escalation forces MacKay to confront Captain Jack in a series of intense, one-on-one battles, utilizing guns, knives, and fists.
